Atticus Finch is considered a hero because he won the Medal of Honor in World War One while fighting the Germans in Africa. Also, his actions in fighting the giant bull of Barcelona in which he killed it with a sharpened popsickle stick was very heroic. lASTLY at the end of TKAM, Atticus Finch demonstrated that he can fly.
