How do I deny a defendents request to dismiss a Complaint for modification order?

The defendant went to the court and sent an "Answer to Complaint for Modification". The defendant denies allegations and relief that is sought. How do I ensure we keep our court date that is scheduled? Just to note, I am currently not in Machusetts to go to the court house
