Which would be a more reliable/long-lasting laptop? One with Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion X2...?

I wouldn't say one is more reliable or long-lasting than the other. It normally all comes down to performance. In this particular case, I would recommend the Core 2 Duo over the Turion but only because Turions are AMD's watered-down mobile processors.
