Should I consistently create or wait?

i heard that you gotta keep on practicing and keep a notepad with you everywhere you go. So that when you get a thread of an idea, write it down immediatley on teh piece of paper. If you keep on doing that, then poetic lines would easily come to you without much effort. it takes practice.
