If a girl gets married in her late 30's will it be improper to throw a big wedding?

Is she no longer the 'young' bride that big weddings are ociated with? Will she look foolish in a big white dress, doing the cake thing and acting like a child on a happy day? Will she have missed the window of opportunity of a big wedding and instead look foolish?
