Do not ever go under umptions in relationships, that just breeds uncertainty and often leads to problems. You just have to tell him that you love him (or don't love him) and directly ask him if he feels the same. If you can't get the guts to speak honestly and openly to one another, then your relationship is not worth keeping, at least in my opinion. Best of luck!
